For those of you who have lost images and custom albums (due to the recent flooding) that I designed and printed for you, I “may” have your images on file. I literally have about 10 years of work archived (20+ drives). When your lives normalize, please contact me so that I can provide those wedding, engagement, bridal, and event images to you on disk or USB drive – no charge of course. Unfortunately, wet albums and books cannot be salvaged or restored. For prints, if you have the original files, it is best to reprint because print restoration is expensive.

Be sure to photograph your albums and prints before you discard them. They are significant investments that you will want to report for insurance purposes.

GoDaddy is killing me right now. My FTP manager has been hung up for two days and tech service is telling me that I have to wait another 72 hours for admin help.  Meanwhile, I can't publish any changes and my permissions are screwed up -po'd.

Tau Kappa Omega's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House

Congratulations to the ladies of the Tau Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The Photo Booth is coming!

This is something that we should have done a while back - build a custom photo booth.  Unlike most booth operators, we are photographers. So we will more than likely take it up a notch in terms of photo quality and booth features. We are building the prototype now with the following specs:

• "Really Open Air" - this booth will be able to accommodate small groups with no problem
• High Quality Images - no iPad or web cams here ... we only use real equipment
• High-speed dye-sub printer - ditto to what I wrote above about equipment
• Customized backgrounds -  backdrops options along with green screen
• "Day Of' touchscreen software and prints - touchscreen theme and prints will match the event theme ... all custom ... 
• "Socially yours" - if wi-fi is available, guests will be able to text, email, and/or post their images to Facebook 
• Awesome add-ons - photo booth guest book and video!

Ambitious, yes, but what else would you expect from us.  We've been printing at events for years and this is actually a much simpler endeavor.  Again, we should have done this years ago.

A new website is coming!

I've been procrastinating on getting rid of my Flashed-based website. I've neglected the majority of internet viewers who have iPhones, iPads, and Windows phones - they can't view the site.  I am about 90% complete with only the image galleries left to populate.  Hopefully I can get it done this weekend.

New Orleans City Park Family

While finishing up a senior photo session in City Park with my daughter's friend's sister (sorry I had to describe her that way!), I ran in to a family attempting to take a quick family photo. The light had fallen considerably and I just knew that their point-and-shoot camera would not do them any justice (I myself was fighting with balancing external flash with the ensuing darkness.). So I confirmed it by volunteering a few shots with their camera - my suspicions were correct because the viewfinder on their Olympus showed several underexposed, grainy images.  Flash with that camera was not an option - red-eye, hotspots, color shifts, you name it.  So, I took a few with my camera ... this is the keeper!

I don't know their names yet, but I will be sending this to them as soon as they email me.

Business Decisions

I made a financial decision and closed the office this month.  William Boyd Photography is still in business but without a formal meeting location.  On average, I met with one to two clients a month last year, wasting a ton of money in rent and upkeep.  The majority of my clients are out-of-towners (New Orleans, Ascension, Iberville, and North Shore), so I have been traveling to meet and deliver.  If business picks up significantly, I will reconsider, but until them just give me a call or email me!
